Life, the classic collection

When I was 5, I started traveling the world with my grandparents.  I have to say that my photography (and sewing, baking, cooking, painting, drawing, crocheting, crafting, designing) took off from there.  I loved snapping away with my little 110 camera that my grandma had and I even got to use the little disk cameras as well.  Grabbing a few polaroid shots here and there as well (still my favorite little "point and shoot" so to speak.......just plain fun!)  But my actual LOVE for this art field came from old images from my grandparents, grandparents and images from when my grandfather was in the Navy in WWII.  I just loved the feel and how it put me right there in the middle of whatever was going on when the shot was taken....................so fast forward......one of the first lessons I even learned in photography when I started taking classes, wasn't anything to do with the technique or rules so to speak.  It was a lesson I had learned when I was 5 yrs old from my grandfather.  "All of the greats have already done it!  They have paved the way for your inspiration kiddo."  and nothing could of been more true.  So here it is, check out LIFE, the classic collection.  It is a great little gem!  Look, and I mean really look at all the beautiful image and feel the emotion.  Isn't it funny how so many people claim to be "original"  when so many greats have already 'Been there, Done that'.  You can see so many image in there, that have come back to life once again.  Further proving that we go in cycles.   Funny how that is isn't it.  Neat to look back in history and see that things are not as different as we once thought.  Absolutely loved the images, and encourage you to at least browse it at our Barnes and Noble store!  Besides the image of President Kennedy, my favorite is the nurse and sailor!  Guess it brings me back to my grandfathers time.  Lucky to have him in my life still and have enjoyed all his wonderful teachings!  I guess these kind of things are a lesson for all of us....we can all learn a thing or two from history!

GIVING IS AWESOME :)

Recently I emailed a fellow photographer whom I had purchased some pretty snazzy templates from last winter......I was showing Matt Nicolosi what I did with the templates I purchased ( I added a bit and gave them a fun twist for Holiday cards and a personal desk calendar more on that later)  Anyhow, through Matt I found out about this wonderful idea that another photographer had about giving back.  So I too joined because I LOVE to give to people who truly appreciate me and what I do.  Being a single mom, I too know how hard times can become and I was very happy to see such a great idea being presented during this holiday season.  So here goes:

If you know someone who can't afford custom photography but you know that they would love it, send me and email.  We all know someone who is truly having a very hard time making ends meet, or someone who is constantly giving to others selflessly, someone who volunteers their own precious time and talent to help others.  Or maybe someone who has been through heartache and pain who would benefit greatly from a custom session and cherish images that show life and love!  Well drop me an email at karma.kf@gmail.com.  Please tell me in detail why they deserve this portrait gift this season.  I will choose the winner on Christmas Eve.  The winner will receive $1500 worth of custom portrait art as well as the person whom nominated the winner will receive $400 worth of custom portrait art.  2 gifts in 1!

*NOTE*  You can not nominate yourself and the person nominated must be incapable of purchasing my services.

*The nominee must reside in Indiana (porter, lake, jasper counties)

*U must email me the story at karma.kf@gmail.com by noon on Dec 23, 2008 :)

Please go see how many other photographers are enjoying giving this Holiday Season:
