Life, the classic collection

When I was 5, I started traveling the world with my grandparents.  I have to say that my photography (and sewing, baking, cooking, painting, drawing, crocheting, crafting, designing) took off from there.  I loved snapping away with my little 110 camera that my grandma had and I even got to use the little disk cameras as well.  Grabbing a few polaroid shots here and there as well (still my favorite little "point and shoot" so to speak.......just plain fun!)  But my actual LOVE for this art field came from old images from my grandparents, grandparents and images from when my grandfather was in the Navy in WWII.  I just loved the feel and how it put me right there in the middle of whatever was going on when the shot was taken....................so fast forward......one of the first lessons I even learned in photography when I started taking classes, wasn't anything to do with the technique or rules so to speak.  It was a lesson I had learned when I was 5 yrs old from my grandfather.  "All of the greats have already done it!  They have paved the way for your inspiration kiddo."  and nothing could of been more true.  So here it is, check out LIFE, the classic collection.  It is a great little gem!  Look, and I mean really look at all the beautiful image and feel the emotion.  Isn't it funny how so many people claim to be "original"  when so many greats have already 'Been there, Done that'.  You can see so many image in there, that have come back to life once again.  Further proving that we go in cycles.   Funny how that is isn't it.  Neat to look back in history and see that things are not as different as we once thought.  Absolutely loved the images, and encourage you to at least browse it at our Barnes and Noble store!  Besides the image of President Kennedy, my favorite is the nurse and sailor!  Guess it brings me back to my grandfathers time.  Lucky to have him in my life still and have enjoyed all his wonderful teachings!  I guess these kind of things are a lesson for all of us....we can all learn a thing or two from history!

GIVING IS AWESOME :)

Recently I emailed a fellow photographer whom I had purchased some pretty snazzy templates from last winter......I was showing Matt Nicolosi what I did with the templates I purchased ( I added a bit and gave them a fun twist for Holiday cards and a personal desk calendar more on that later)  Anyhow, through Matt I found out about this wonderful idea that another photographer had about giving back.  So I too joined because I LOVE to give to people who truly appreciate me and what I do.  Being a single mom, I too know how hard times can become and I was very happy to see such a great idea being presented during this holiday season.  So here goes:

If you know someone who can't afford custom photography but you know that they would love it, send me and email.  We all know someone who is truly having a very hard time making ends meet, or someone who is constantly giving to others selflessly, someone who volunteers their own precious time and talent to help others.  Or maybe someone who has been through heartache and pain who would benefit greatly from a custom session and cherish images that show life and love!  Well drop me an email at karma.kf@gmail.com.  Please tell me in detail why they deserve this portrait gift this season.  I will choose the winner on Christmas Eve.  The winner will receive $1500 worth of custom portrait art as well as the person whom nominated the winner will receive $400 worth of custom portrait art.  2 gifts in 1!

*NOTE*  You can not nominate yourself and the person nominated must be incapable of purchasing my services.

*The nominee must reside in Indiana (porter, lake, jasper counties)

*U must email me the story at karma.kf@gmail.com by noon on Dec 23, 2008 :)

Please go see how many other photographers are enjoying giving this Holiday Season:
www.givingisawesome.com also check out the photographer who started it all at www.essentialimagery.com and lets not forget about Matt Nicolosi!  Check out his awesome work at www.mattnicolosi.com!  I will tell you, last winter he gave me a lot of inspiration as I was creating so many new templates and ideas for other photographers to use!  Thanks so much Matt for wanting to give and informing me of this wonderful idea!!!!!

TROUBLE?!?!?

Sorry blog fans, we have been having a bit of difficulty from our server lately, which means I can see the images on my end, but you can not!  However, everything should be working correctly on our site by next week!  Or so I am told.  Sorry for the trouble!  Have a great weekend and take care.  FYI : we can not upload images at this time to preview on the website.  We contacted server last Thursday and were suppose to have everything back to order in 48 hours, but as you can see that just is not happening.  Please be patient and I will let you know when everything is working perfectly again!!!!

Linsey, You are the BEST

What a little model.....

Four years ago, we were messing around with some images trying to find a new way for displaying them together, after a few trial and errors;  we designed  The GALLERY Collage.  We went away from the design for awhile, but after many request to bring it back.......here it is! Enjoy!

I have to say, little "B" is absolutely wonderful to work with.  She is such a perfect little model.  When they say, "some of us are just born into the life" they are not kidding.  What do you expect with two parents that are models as well, not to mention BEAUTIFUL!  Genetically, this little one follows her parents footsteps!  Thanks for a wonderful session, I never expect less from you!  I can not wait to see how far your career in modeling goes!!!!  GOOD LUCK!

Til death do us part......

We have been so busy lately taking images, that we haven't had anytime to post! Here are a few images from a few weeks ago.  We will try to post more in the future, but with wedding and senior season in full bloom, not too mention running two photography businesses; there is not a lot of extra time for "upkeep" on the extras that do not have to do with our daily business life!   We will try to keep you updated at least weekly :)  Please be patient, as we are giving our time and attention to our clients!  That means you!  We are working 7 days a week to assist all you wonderful folks, and we unfortunately will have to put the blog a bit on the back burner and try to play catch up once a week.   We will post specials etc. throughout the summer months, so check back to see what we are offering!  God bless all of you who have helped make our businesses successful!  We are fortunate to have you in our lives.  Take care, be careful,  and enjoy the warm weather!

Two Girls and a Mother's Day Idea

Recently, K&K asked me about a special gift for their mother for Mother's Day!  With Dad on board, we were able to sneak away from Mom for a bit and grab some great shots of these two sweethearts.  It was NOT easy though!  Thankfully, Mom got a bit lost on the way to the park where she was going to meet us at after the shoot (still not knowing what was up)...oh yes and of course, my camera was just lying in the front seat when we finally met up!  The girls say that she had no clue.  We will see.  Hopefully not!  You girls were wonderful to work with and I can't wait to hear what Mom thinks about your gift!  I added the "friends" shots for the two of you to see as well!  Have a wonderful weekend girls!

Family

I LOVE this one of the grown boys looking at their mom and dad!

A little over a week ago, we had the pleasure of working with a local family.  They were some of the nicest people we had ever met!  The father is head of the Nazarene Church, and his wife is just simply delightful.  So much love here!  Their children live far away and were going to be in town for a few days.  We got a special request to take their photos, when all of a sudden the weather turned super COLD!!!!  Obviously, we would have loved to of captured them in a beautiful park somewhere, but we had to stay inside with the little one.  So the next best thing had to work!! They had a BEAUTIFUL home.........which is just where we ended up!  Here are a few from our session together.  Thanks everyone, you were wonderful to work with and it was our pleasure!  A special thanks to my sister, who came along to help and "try" to keep the baby's attention!
